V

V'Lar, Ambassador.  (Fionnula Flanagan).  Vulcan ambassador to Mazar, and distinguished diplomat.  V'Lar was responsible for negotiating the territorial accords between Vulcan and Andoria, as well as the Treaty of Ka'Tann, where she first met T'Pol.  V'Lar was sent by the Vulcans to help expose the corruption in the Mazarite government.  As a ploy to leave the planet without the corrupt agencies finding out, she was charged with crimes so as to make any testimony of hers appear refutable to the corrupt organizations.  She was picked up by Enterprise, but after the ship was attacked by a Mazarite vessel, she refused to tell Captain Archer what the true nature of the mission was.  Archer then decided to head back to Mazar, potentially jeopardizing her life, but then she told him the truth and he turned the ship back around for the rendezvous.  At that point, V'Lar had been at her career for 94 years.  ("Fallen Hero" [ENT]).  V'Lar's treatise on negotiating tactics was a definitive source in hostage and other negotiation situations.  ("Cease Fire" [ENT]).  Flanagan had previously played Enina Tandro in "Dax" (DS9) and Dr. Juliana O'Donnell Soong Tainer in "Inheritance" (TNG).

V'tosh ka'tur Vulcan term meaning Vulcans without logic.  ("Fusion" [ENT]).

VaankaraVulcan starship that was in the Delphic Expanse for less than two days before the crew turned on each other violently.  The ship was later destroyed.
  ("The Expanse" [ENT]).

Vahklas Vulcan transport ship under the command of Tavin.  The crew left Vulcan around 2143 in order to embrace emotions.  They requested help from engineers of the Enterprise to fix some of their systems.  In return, they also helped chart the Arachnid Nebula.  ("Fusion" [ENT]).

Valakians.  Pre-warp humanoid society native to the planet Valakis.  The Valakians had suffered from a genetic mutation for over 1,000 years.  In 2151, when the S.S. Enterprise visited Valakis, the mutation was exponentially worse than in previous years.  Dr. Phlox found a cure for the epidemic, but convinced Captain Archer that they should not interfere with the natural course of evolution on the planet.  ("Dear Doctor" [ENT]).

Valakis.  Planet, homeworld to the Valakians and the Menk.  The Enterprise visited Valakis in 2151.  At that time, the population was 50 million, but was rapidly decreasing as 12 million Valakians died the year before.  ("Dear Doctor" [ENT]).

valve assembly.  Component on a starship.  The valve assembly of the E.C.S. Fortunate was not functioning and Commander Tucker repaired it.  ("Fortunate Son" [ENT]).

valve sealant.  Valve sealant was sent to Lt. Reed instead of the plasma coils which he requested.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

Vanik, Captain.  (William Utay).  Captain of the Vulcan starship Ti'Mur for 15 years of the 76 he spent in the Vulcan space program.  Vanik intercepted the S.S. Enterprise to deliver a message to T'Pol about her arranged marriage.  He was invited to dinner aboard the Enterprise by Captain Archer, but declined to eat and held minimal conversation.  He was not very interested in humans.  ("Breaking the Ice" [ENT]).

"Vanishing Point." Enterprise episode # 36.  Story by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga and Fred Dekker.  Directed by David Straition.  No date given.  Hoshi begins to disappear after transport from a planet during a storm, but it is only a dream while she was stuck in the transporter pattern buffer.  GUEST CAST:  Morgan H. Vega colony.  Human colony that was often brought supplies by cargo freighters.  ("Fortunate Son" [ENT]).  Vega colony was the closest human settlement to the area where the S.S. Enterprise found the future pod.  ("Future Tense" [ENT]).

Vega Reticuli.  Star system where a couple was from that celebrated their 100th wedding anniversary on Risa.  ("Two Days and Two Nights" [ENT]).

Velcro.  Hook and loop fastener.  T'Mir brought some to a patent office to gain money for Jack's college fund. 
("Carbon Creek" [ENT]).  Velcro was actually invented by George de Mestral, and patented in 1951.

VelikVulcan scientist who visited Charles Tucker's 10th grade biology class to talk about exobiology.  Velik said "Challenge your preconceptions, or they'll challenge you."  ("Strange New World" [ENT]).

Venezuela.  A country of northern South America bordering the Carribbean Sea.  Venezuela was in the area attacked by the Xindi probe.
  ("The Expanse" [ENT]).

veridium isotope.  Type of mineral mined by the Malurians on the Akaali planet.  Veridium isotopes were largely used in the creation of weapons.  ("Civilization" [ENT]).

VesnaDenobulan wife of Groznik.  She had a spat with Groznik and didn't forgive him after two apologies.  ("Stigma" [ENT]).

Veylo.  (Laura Interval).  Tactical officer aboard the Vissian ship that studied the tactical systems on Enterprise with Lieutenant Reed.  She became interested in an intimate relationship with Reed.  ("Cogenitor" [ENT]).  Interval previously played Erin Hansen in "Dark Frontier" Parts I and II (VOY).

Vissia.  Planet, homeworld to the Vissians.  The planet was over 25 light-years away from a hypergiant that Vissian ship studied in 2153.  ("Cogenitor" [ENT]).

Vissian engineer.  (F.J. Rio).  Engineer aboard the Vissian ship that was husband to CallaThey were trying to have a baby, but when their cogenitor was tempted with freedom by Commander Tucker, the cogenitor no longer wished to comply and committed suicide.  ("Cogenitor" [ENT]).  Rio previously played Muniz in "Starship Down" (DS9), "Hard Time" (DS9), and "The Ship" (DS9).  He also played Joleg in "Repentance" (VOY).

Vissians.  Race from the planet Vissia, characterized by a ridge outside the eyes.  The Vissians are a race that has three separate species involved in sexual reproduction.  The men and women had equal rights, but the cogenitors were not given certain freedoms.  Yet their society had functioned well and they were fairly advanced.  ("Cogenitor" [ENT]).

Vorok.  (Christopher Darga).  Captain of a Klingon battle cruiser who threatened to kill the entire crew of the Xyrillian ship, but let them have their lives in exchange for holotechnology.  ("Unexpected" [ENT]).  Darga previously played Kaybok in "The Way of the Warrior" (DS9), and Y'Sek in "Think Tank" (VGR).

voo-sinteel.  Spirit consumed to make The Great Plume of Agosoria a more pleasurable experience.  ("Cold Front" [ENT]).

"Vox Sola." Enterprise episode # 22.  Story by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga and Fred Dekker.  Teleplay by Fred Dekker.  Directed by Roxann Dawson.  No date given.  After a disastrous first contact with an alien ship, a squid-like alien lifeform infiltrates Enterprise and nests in cargo bay two, holding five members of the crew.  The crew desperately tries to help free the crewmembers.  GUEST CAST:  Vaughn Armstrong as Kreetassan Captain; Joseph Will as Rostov; Renee Goldsberry as Kelly.  SEE:  brown dwarf; EM barrier; Kelly, Crewman; Kreetassan Captain; Kreetassans; Neethian cradlefish; nineball; prime rib; Rostov, Crewman Michael; "Wages of Fear"; water polo.

Vulcan.  Planet, home to the Vulcans.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).  T'Pol was going to return to Vulcan when the S.S. Enterprise was on the way to the Delphic Expanse, but decided not to.  It was not too far from the ship's course.  ("The Expanse" [ENT]).

Vulcan Advisory Council
.  Vulcan organization that urged Starfleet to put its NX-Test Program on hold indefinitely after the destruction of the NX-Alpha.  ("First Flight" [ENT]).

Vulcan compound.  Housing unit for the Vulcans on Earth located in Sausalito.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

Vulcan consulate.  Location on Earth where Phlox studied Vulcan spirituality.  ("Cold Front" [ENT]).

Vulcan Council of Physicians.  Vulcan assembly that Dr. Oratt was a ranking member of.
  ("Stigma" [ENT]).

Vulcan elder.  (Bruce French).  Elder at the Vulcan sanctuary on P'Jem.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).  Bruce French previously played Sabin Genestra in "The Drumhead" (TNG), an Ocampan doctor in "Caretaker" (VGR), and a Son'a officer in Star Trek: Insurrection.

Vulcan High Command.  Authoratative body of government for the Vulcans.  ("Strange New World" [ENT]).  The Vulcan High Command assigned T'Pol to the S.S. Enterprise.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).  Later, they wished to recall T'Pol to Vulcan because of the incident at P'Jem, and because joint fleet operations with Starfleet were suspended.  ("Shadows of P'Jem" [ENT]).

Vulcan initiate.  (Richard Tanner).  Initiate at the Vulcan sanctuary on P'Jem.  He helped to defend the reliquary, despite the fact that Vulcans don't use violence.  When Captain Archer discovered the Vulcan sensor array, the initiate tried to stop him with force, but was neutralized.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).

Vulcan mind meld.  Ancient technique used by Vulcans to share thoughts and emotions.  T'Pol said she had never heard of the ritual, but agreed to let Tolaris use it on her.  She panicked and ended up in sick bay, nearly suffering neurological trauma.  ("Fusion" [ENT]).  T'Pol contracted Pa'nar syndrome from the meld, which was a common occurence during the practice.  ("Stigma" [ENT]).

Vulcan Ministry of Information.  Vulcan agency that T'Pol was assigned to before the S.S. Enterprise left for the Delphic Expanse.  She declined the offer.
  ("The Expanse" [ENT]).

Vulcan Ministry of Security.  Vulcan intelligence agency.  T'Pol finished her training for reconaissance and retrieval at the ministry in 2135.
  ("The Seventh" [ENT]).

 

Vulcan sandworms.  Worm that was fed to Phlox's Pyrithian Bat.  ("Regeneration" [ENT]).

Vulcan Science Directorate
.  Board of science directors for the Vulcan people.  The directorate postulated that time travel was not possible because there was no evidence of it.  ("Cold Front" [ENT]).  The board had not done much research on Pa'nar syndrome due to it's taboo status in society.
  ("Stigma" [ENT]).

Vulcan sanctuary.  3,000 year old monastery located on P'Jem.  The sanctuary was set up for the ritual of KolinahrAndorians raided the sanctuary in 2151 in search for a covert sensor array, which was found after a fire fight with humans from the S.S. Enterprise.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).

Vulcan sensor array.  Massive scanning array set up to watch Andoria covertly as it was a violation of the Vulcan treaty with Andoria.  The array was discovered by a raiding group of Andorians and a landing party from the S.S. Enterprise.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).

Vulcan space program Vulcan organization set up for interstellar travel.  ("Breaking the Ice" [ENT]).

Vulcan starcharts.  Maps of space charted by the Vulcans.  These were given to Starfleet in exchange for having a Vulcan observer aboard the S.S. Enterprise on it's mission to Qo'noS.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).  The charts did not have any data on the course assigned to the Enterprise after it left Qo'noS.  ("Fight or Flight" [ENT]).  They also didn't have a protostar that the Enterprise charted.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).

Vulcana Regar.  City on planet Vulcan where the Treaty of Ka'Tann was negotiated.  T'Pol had first met Ambassador V'Lar there.  ("Fallen Hero" [ENT]).

Vulcans.  Humanoid species native to planet Vulcan.  The ancient philosopher Surak was the father of the Vulcan philosophy of logic.  Vulcans first encountered the humans on April 5, 2063.  Ever since then Vulcans had a prescence on Earth.  The Vulcans had been space-faring long beforehand and contained much knowledge of the local area of the galaxy, despite that Vulcans are not enthusiastic about exploration.  ("Fight or Flight" [ENT]).  Vulcans were initially opposed to the launch of the S.S. Enterprise because they weren't sure if the humans were ready.
  Vulcans were characterized by pointed ears and dark hair.  Vulcan females have a heightened sense of smell.  The Vulcans are vegetarians and never touch food with their hands ("Broken Bow" [ENT]), but their digestive tract is highly adjustable.  ("Unexpected" [ENT]).  Caffeine has little effect on Vulcans.  ("Breaking the Ice" [ENT]).
  Some Vulcans chose to undergo the
Kolinahr ritual in order to purge all emotions from their systems.  The Vulcan sanctuary on P'Jem was a place for such activities.
  The Vulcans had always had strained relations with the Andorians
so they signed a mutual pact of non-agression in order to quell the Andorians' fears.  The Vulcans broke the treaty after establishing a covert sensor array underneath the monastery on P'Jem.
  Vulcans no longer used violence to solve any of their problems.
  Vulcan mating rituals involved the woman forcing men to fight to the death.  ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).
  The Vulcans claimed they would check on the
Akaali once in a while to make sure the Malurians never tried to come back and continue mining.  ("Civilization" [ENT]).
  Some Vulcans decided to leave the planet due to disbelieving the teachings of Surak.  They were called
V'tosh ka'tur.  Others left the planet who just interpreted Surak's teachings differently.  ("Fusion" [ENT]).
  The Vulcans forcibly removed the Andorians from a colony they established on Weytahn in 2097 to prevent the Andorians from setting up a military base with strategic proximity to Vulcan.  Several treaties were signed in order to prevent hostility in the region.  Situations tensed up again when the Andorians landed on the planet attempting to take it back by force.
